SHAH ALAMM 9 Sept: Skim Pencen Perkhidmatan Awam dianggap sebagai keistimewaan kepada penjawat awam di negara ini dan langkah untuk memansuhkannya dilihat sebagai keputusan yang terburu-buru, kata Kongres Kesatuan Pekerja-Pekerja Dalam Perkhidmatan Awam (Cuepacs).
Presidennya, Datuk Azih Muda, berkata jumlah sehingga RM30 bilion yang dibelanjakan kerajaan bagi skim berkenaan tidaklah terlampu tinggi jika dinilai dalam pelbagai aspek, malah dapat ditampung melalui sumber-sumber lain.
Beliau berkata, pemberian pencen sebaliknya hendaklah dianggap sebagai bentuk sumbangan kepada pesara dalam kalangan penjawat awam yang telah lama berkhidmat di dalam kerajaan, terutama dalam membantu ekonomi mereka.
“Kita menaruh harapan yang tinggi supaya kerajaan tidak melihat pemberian pencen sebagai satu bentuk perniagaan kerana terpaksa mengeluarkan kos yang tinggi untuk dibaya kepada pesara.
“Jadi Cuepacs berharap agar keputusan yang diliihat terburu-buru oleh kerajaan untuk memansuhkan pencen tidak diteruskan,” katanya, memetik kenyataannya yang disiarkan Sinar Harian di sini, hari ini.
Ketua Pengarah Perkhidmatan Awam, Datuk Seri Borhan Dolah, sebelum ini memaklumkan cadangan mengenai mekanisme baharu skim pencen membabitkan lantikan baharu yang dijangka dapat mengurangkan beban kewangan kerajaan sehingga RM5 bilion setahun apabila ia dilaksanakan tahun depan.
