IPOH, 17 Nov: Selepas Manjung, Perak mungkin mempunyai sebuah lagi Institut Keselamatan dan Kesihatan Pekerjaan Negara (NIOSH) susulan permohonan daripada pihak industri dan sektor awam , kata Menteri Sumber Manusia.
M Kulasegaran berkata, buat masa ini, bandaraya Ipoh dicadangkan bagi mendirikan pejabat wilayah NIOSH berkenaan yang disifatkan strategik dan membolehkan lebih ramai pihak berpeluang menyertai program yang diadakan.
Penubuhan itu, menurutnya dilihat selari dengan perkembangan sektor industri di negeri ini.
“Pada masa sekarang, Perak mempunyai satu cawangan NIOSH di Manjung yang dibuka pada 2017 dan nampaknya, kita menerima sambutan amat menggalakkan di sana.
“Jadi, kementerian akan lihat adakah cadangan baharu ini boleh dilaksanakan agar perkhidmatan lebih baik dapat diberikan kepada sektor swasta dan awam,” katanya, memetik kenyataannya kepada media selepas menghadiri Program Safety and Health Talk di sini, hari ini.
Kulasegaran berkata, selain soal berkaitan keselamatan dan kesihatan pekerjaan, NIOSH turut berperanan menyediakan latihan kecekapan dan peningkatan kemahiran kepada para pekerja.
“Kerana itu, kita cadangkan ia dimulakan di Ipoh supaya lebih mudah untuk pekerja-pekerja tanpa perlu ke Setiawan (Manjung),” katanya, seraya menambah sebanyak RM30 juta sudah diagihkan kerajaan bagi membantu golongan B40 melalui program latihan di bawah kementeriannya.
