BACHOK, 25 Julai 2019 — Pelajar yang tamat mengikuti kursus Sijil Lanjutan di Jabatan Hospitaliti, Institut Kemahiran Tinggi Belia Negara (IKTBN) di sini mempunyai kebolehanpasaran dan tidak sukar bagi mereka mendapatkan pekerjaan di dalam dan luar negara.
Ketua jabatan itu, Kang Foo Liew berkata kira-kira 96 peratus daripada 2,000 pelajar yang tamat mengikuti kursus itu sejak 2003 memperolehi pekerjaan di pelbagai sektor seperti perhotelan dan restoran di seluruh negara serta mengikuti kapal perdagangan ke Korea dan Australia.
“Tidak kurang juga yang berniaga sendiri dengan membuka kedai-kedai makan sehingga ke taraf usahawan Industri Kecil dan Sederhana (IKS) yang berjaya,” katanya kepada Bernama ketika ditemui sempena Mini Karnival di sini, hari ini.
Beliau berkata, mereka termasuk pengusaha Nasi Dagang Wakaf Bharu dekat Kota Bharu, Isca Kek House Kuala Krai, Pak Ya Gulai Kawah Bachok dan Agro Bazar di Telong Bachok.
Kang berkata, terdapat di kalangan mereka mempunyai pendapatan yang agak lumayan antara RM1,500 sehingga RM5,000 sebulan.
Beliau berkata, pihaknya mengadakan Memorandum Persefahaman (MOU) dengan lebih 10 buah syarikat pengeluar makanan terkemuka dalam negara termasuk di Pulau Pinang dan Pulau Perhentian.
“Selain mengikuti latihan industri di syarikat-syarikat terpilih itu mereka juga secara langsung berpeluang memohon berkerja di syarikat-syarikat berkenaan selepas memperolehi sijil,” katanya.
Beliau berkata, pelajar terbabit terdiri daripada lepasan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) yang berumur 17 hingga 25 tahun dipilih mengikuti kursus pelbagai jenis masakan di institut berkenaan selama enam bulan mengikut pilihan masing-masing.
Katanya, ini termasuk kursus Penyediaan Makanan, Penyediaan Pastri (kek dan biskut ) dan Penyajian Makanan yang berasaskan masakan tradisional dan selera antarabangsa.
“Di samping itu mereka juga diberi galakan untuk mencipta masakan yang berbentuk inovasi,” katanya.
