KOTA KINABALU, 14 Julai 2019 — Menteri Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani Datuk Salahuddin Ayub mahu semua Pertubuhan Peladang Kawasan (PPK) di negara ini diurus tadbir dengan baik dan memastikan aktiviti yang dijalankan, memberi manfaat kepada rakyat.
Justeru, menurut beliau kementeriannya akan memantau aktiviti PPK yang ada di negara ini, dan memastikan tiada penyelewengan berlaku.
“Mana-mana PPK yang berlaku penyelewengan, saya akan ganggu (pantau) dan PPK yang menjalankan urus tadbir dengan baik, saya tidak ganggu.
“Saya juga tidak mengira latar belakang pimpinan PPK, tetapi saya mahu mereka bekerja untuk rakyat kerana tujuan PPK ditubuhkan menjadi payung kepada rakyat,” katanya ketika berucap pada lawatan projek ternakan keli Afrika, udang kara air tawar, dan kerapu hibrid, di Kampung Sendil Putatan dekat sini, hari ini.
Pada lawatan itu juga, berlangsung majlis menandatangani Memorandum Pesefahaman (MoU) antara PPK Putatan, PCB Biotech Sdn Bhd dan EZ Retail.
Ditemui pemberita selepas majlis itu, Salahuddin berkata terdapat 279 PPK di seluruh negara dengan keahlian seramai 960,000 dan PPK kini sedang dalam proses mengadakan mesyuarat agong dengan separuh daripadanya telahpun selesai mengadakannya.
“Tidak kira siapa mereka (lantikan baharu), saya akan pastikan mereka benar-benar profesional dan berminat dalam mengurus PPK dengan baik, untuk manfaat golongan peladang,” katanya.
Mengenai projek ternakan keli, udang kara air tawar dan kerapu hibrid itu, beliau berkata ia satu aktiviti pertanian yang memberi potensi cukup besar masa hadapan, khususnya kepada ekonomi setempat.
“Saya menggalakkan industri ini berkembang jauh kerana dapat memberikan pekerjaan kepada anak tempatan dan menambah nilai eksport untuk pertumbuhan ekonomi negeri ini dan negara,” kata Salahuddin.
