Butterworth (Khamis 6 Disember 2018): Operasi dan langkah penguatkuasaan di pintu-pintu masuk utama negara ini akan lebih lancar lagi apabila lebih ramai anggota penguatkuasa baru Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia (JIM) menjalankan tugas mereka mulai tahun 2019.Kira-kira 600 anggota baru akan melaporkan diri, melibatkan 217 anggota Gred KP29 selepas menjalani Kursus Asas Imigresen di Akademi Imigresen Malaysia di Port Dickson.
Manakala pada Februari, pengambilan anggota baru itu turut melibatkan 400 Pegawai Imigresen KP19, yang telah ditemuduga dan akan tamat menjalani kursus asas. Mereka akan ditempatkan di Bahagian Kaunter Perkhidmatan, Operasi dan pintu-pintu masuk utama di seluruh negara.
Timbalan Ketua Pengarah, JIM, Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman berkata pengambilan baru itu adalah langkah yang dilakukan dari semasa ke semasa bagi mengatasi masalah kekurangan anggota JIM, yang kini ada hampir 15,000 kakitangan.
Katanya, pertambahan ini akan dapat menyumbang kepada kekurangan pegawai yang dihadapi di Johor (Bangunan Sultan Iskandar dan Kompleks Sultan Abu Bakar) dan di KLIA (Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur).
Beliau berkata demikian selepas majlis sambutan Hari Imigresen yang dirasmikan oleh Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Pertanian, Industri Asas Tani, Pembangunan Luar Bandar dan Kesihatan Negeri, Dr Afif Bahardin.
