MERSING, 6 Feb 2020 — Lebih 100,000 orang, termasuk kira-kira 95 peratus golongan isi rumah berpendapatan rendah (B40), menerima manfaat menerusi penganjuran pelbagai program pembangunan modal insan Wilayah Ekonomi Pantai Timur (ECER) sejak ia diperkenalkan pada 2010.
Ketua Pegawai Eksekutif Majlis Pembangunan Wilayah Ekonomi Pantai Timur (ECERDC) Baidzawi Che Mat berkata daripada golongan B40 tersebut, 70 peratus adalah belia dan wanita yang mencerminkan pendekatan inklusif ECERDC bagi memperkasa rakyat.
“Kami sentiasa komited dalam meningkatkan kesejahteraan peserta ECER menerusi projek dan program ECERDC. Malah, pencapaian mereka ini menyemarakkan semangat kami meneruskan program pembangunan modal insan berimpak tinggi.
“Justeru, kami akan terus bekerjasama erat dengan kerajaan negeri dan agensi berkaitan bagi melaksanakan program pembangunan modal insan selaras Pelan Induk ECER 2.0 (EMP 2.0) bagi memastikan pertumbuhan ekonomi mampan,” katanya pada Majlis Konvokesyen dan Anugerah Usahawan EMPOWER ECER Mersing di sini, hari ini.
Majlis itu dirasmikan oleh Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal dan turut dihadiri oleh Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri Endau Alwiyah Talib.
Mengulas lanjut, Baidzawi berkata ECER kini dalam fasa lonjakan seterusnya menerusi pelaksanaan EMP 2.0 bagi mentransformasi wilayah ini menjadi ekonomi yang dipacu oleh produktiviti dan bernilai tinggi menjelang 2025.
“Bagi meningkatkan lagi pembangunan sosioekonomi di daerah ini, program pembangunan modal insan ECERDC telah dirangka khusus bagi menyokong aktiviti pelancongan di Mersing dan memberi limpahan ekonomi kepada masyarakat setempat.
“Inisiatif pemeliharaan dan pemuliharaan khazanah semulajadi akan diteruskan melalui konsep ekopelancongan “Hutan Hujan ke Terumbu Karang” (R2R) ECER selain pembangunan Pusat Informasi dan Perkhidmatan Taman Laut Sultan Iskandar (PIPTLSI) di Pulau Besar dan pembangunan Pelancongan Kampungstay Air Papan,” katanya.
PIPTLSI dijangka siap pada suku ketiga tahun ini manakala pembangunan Pelancongan Kampungstay Air Papan kini dalam fasa reka bentuk dengan pembinaannya juga dijangka bermula pada suku ketiga 2020.
Sementara itu, Dr Sahruddin dalam ucapannya berkata program Latihan Akademik Empower ECER telah membantu kira-kira 200 pelajar berprestasi rendah dalam usaha memperbaiki pencapaian akademik mereka, pada tahun lepas.
“Hasilnya, 72 peratus telah Mencapai Tahap Minimum (MTM) berbanding 16 peratus sebelum menyertai program itu. Pencapaian ini amat signifikan dan saya berharap program ini diteruskan untuk manfaat warga ECER, terutama di Mersing,” kata beliau.
Menurut Dr Sahruddin lagi, sejak program empower ECER dilancarkan di Mersing pada 2013, seramai 3,100 orang peserta yang kebanyakannya daripada golongan B40 telah menerima manfaat.
Pada tahun lepas, seramai 177 peserta Latihan Kemahiran dan Keusahawanan empower ECER telah berjaya menjadi usahawan.
“Kebanyakan mereka meraih pendapatan bulanan RM1,000 hingga RM5,000 dan pada masa sama mewujudkan lebih 160 peluang pekerjaan kepada masyarakat setempat,” kata beliau.
