KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Jan 2020 — Bekas Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed dilantik sebagai Pengerusi Unit Peneraju Agenda Bumiputera (TERAJU) untuk tempoh dua tahun.
Menteri Hal Ehwal Ekonomi Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali dalam satu kenyataan hari ini berkata pelantikan Anggota Parlimen Jeli itu dipersetujui Perdana Menteri Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Tarikh lantikan berkuatkuasa pada 1 Dis 2019.
Mohamed Azmin berkata bersesuaian dengan peranan TERAJU sebagai sebuah agensi ulung untuk meneraju, memacu dan menyelaras penyertaan Bumiputera dalam ekonomi negara, beliau yakin Mustapa dapat membawa agenda ekonomi Bumiputera seiring dengan Wawasan Kemakmuran Bersama 2030.
“Dengan kepimpinan yang baharu ini, saya pasti usaha berterusan yang akan dilaksanakan oleh TERAJU akan meningkatkan daya saing Bumiputera sekaligus memantapkan lagi kedudukan Bumiputera dalam ekonomi negara.
“Selain daripada sudut ekonomi, TERAJU mempunyai peranan yang besar dalam menjamin kesejahteraan hidup serta mengangkat martabat Bumiputera ke tahap yang lebih tinggi,” katanya.
Mustapa merupakan tokoh yang mempunyai pengalaman luas dalam bidang ekonomi, kewangan, pendidikan dan perdagangan.
Mustapa pernah berkhidmat sebagai Menteri Perdagangan Antarabangsa dan Industri (2009-2018), Menteri Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani (2008-2009), Menteri Pengajian Tinggi (2006-2008), Menteri dalam Jabatan Perdana Menteri (2004-2006), Menteri Kewangan 2 (1998-1999), Menteri Pembangunan Usahawan (1995-1999) dan Timbalan Menteri Kewangan (1993-1995).
