KUALA SELANGOR, 21 Dis 2019 — Kira-kira 100 sukarelawan Persatuan Bantuan Perubatan Malaysia (Mercy Malaysia) telah memberikan komitmen mereka dalam membantu kerja pembersihan pantai di sekitar kawasan Jeram di sini.
Naib Presiden III Mercy Malaysia Prof Dr Shalimar Abdullah berkata program itu bertujuan untuk menjaga kebersihan pantai di samping menyumbang kepada keseimbangan ekosistem kawasan sekitarnya.
“Program ini turut dilaksanakan bersempena Hari Sukarelawan Antarabangsa yang diraikan pada bulan Disember setiap tahun.
“Menerusi program ini kami mengutip sampah sarap, sisa-sisa makanan dan minuman serta barangan terbuang sepanjang 1.2km di kawasan pesisir pantai ini,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas program tersebut hari ini.
Beliau berkata menerusi program itu ia secara tidak langsung akan meningkat kesedaran masyarakat mengenai kepentingan menjaga hidupan laut sekali gus mendidik amalan positif untuk menambah baik kualiti hidup mereka.
Katanya, pelawat atau pelancong yang datang ke kawasan pantai itu juga diingatkan agar tidak sewenang-wenangnya membuang sampah tanpa adanya rasa tanggungjawab dan keprihatinan terhadap kepentingan memelihara alam sekitar.
“Kami harap aktiviti ini dapat memberi inspirasi kepada semua pihak untuk memainkan peranan masing-masing dalam memelihara alam sekitar bagi mewujudkan alam sekitar yang sihat dan bersih.
“Kita harus mengekalkan keindahan pantai selain memastikan hidupan marin bebas daripada kekotoran serta pencemaran kerana hidupan marin ini juga sumber makanan kita,” katanya.
