KUALA LUMPUR, 18 Dis 2019 — Kerajaan akan terus mengembeling usaha membawa masuk pelabur dan syarikat berteraskan teknologi bagi membantu melonjakkan peluang pekerjaan dan pendapatan pekerja tempatan, persidangan Dewan Negara dimaklumkan hari ini.
Timbalan Menteri Hal Ehwal Ekonomi Dr Mohd Radzi Md Jidin berkata ini memandangkan kebanyakan syarikat dan industri sedia ada kurang ‘bermotivasi’ untuk menggunakan teknologi dan kepakaran tempatan, menyebabkan rakyat tempatan kurang mendapat pekerjaan yang berpendapatan tinggi.
“Apa yang berlaku, apabila pekerja asing dibawa masuk dengan mudah, motivasi untuk syarikat atau pelabur menggunakan teknologi menjadi rendah… sebab boleh dapat tenaga kerja dengan mudah khususnya melibatkan pekerja asing.
“Jadi kita sedang lihat apakah cara terbaik supaya syarikat dan industri menggunakan teknologi… menggunakan automasi agar produktiviti dan pengeluaran lebih tinggi, sekali gus gaji yang dibayar kepada pekerja tempatan juga akan menjadi lebih tinggi,” katanya ketika sesi pertanyaan bagi jawab lisan .
Beliau menjawab soalan Senator Dr Yaakob Sapari yang ingin tahu langkah kerajaan dalam usaha meningkatkan pendapatan pekerja tempatan terutama golongan B40 dan M40.
