SHAH ALAM, 19 Dis 2019 — Bekas Setiausaha Agung Kongres Kesatuan Pekerja-pekerja Di Dalam Perkhidmatan Awam (Cuepacs), Adnan Mat dipilih sebagai presiden baharu kongres itu bagi penggal 2019-2022.
Adnan memperoleh 676 undi untuk menewaskan pencabarnya, bekas Timbalan Presiden II Cuepacs, Zainal Ismail yang hanya mendapat 381 undi dalam sesi pemilihan sempena Konvensyen Kongres Tritahunan Cuepacs ke-28 di Pusat Konvensyen Shah Alam (SACC) di sini, hari ini.
Keputusan itu diumumkan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Tetap Pengiraan Undi, Abdul Rashid Abdullah yang mana sebanyak 1,382 perwakilan mengundi pada sesi pemilihan berkenaan.
Selain Adnan dan Zainal, tiga lagi calon yang turut merebut jawatan presiden Cuepacs adalah setiausaha kewangan kongres itu, Mohd Razali Singah; Presiden Kesatuan Pegawai Hutan Melayu Semenanjung Malaysia (KPHMSM), Datuk Ahmad Shuffir Zakaria dan Presiden Kesatuan Pegawai Kastam Semenanjung Malaysia, Abdul Malik Mohamed Zin.
Penyandang presiden Cuepacs sebelum ini, Datuk Azih Muda tidak mempertahankan jawatan berkenaan berikutan beliau akan bersara daripada perkhidmatan awam hujung bulan ini.
Jawatan nombor dua kongres itu iaitu Timbalan Presiden I diisi oleh Aminuddin Awang apabila memperolehi 766 undi manakala Timbalan Presiden II disandang Zulkifli Mohamed yang meraih 756 undi.
Dalam pada itu, Abdul Rahman Mohd Nordin yang sebelum ini memegang jawatan Timbalan Setiausaha Agung Cuepacs, menang tanpa bertanding bagi jawatan Setiausaha Agung.
Pemilihan Cuepacs kali ini turut menyaksikan kemunculan 50 peratus muka-muka baharu bagi mengisi jawatan yang dipertandingkan untuk penggal berkenaan.
Sementara itu, Adnan ketika ditemui pemberita berkata Cuepacs akan terus menggesa kerajaan untuk mempertimbangkan kenaikan kadar gaji minimum penjawat awam di seluruh negara bagi membantu meringankan kos sara hidup mereka.
Beliau berkata kadar gaji minimum sektor awam pada masa ini dilihat tidak memadai terutamanya bagi pekerja yang berada dalam golongan berpendapatan rendah (B40).
“Kita cadangkan gaji minimum penjawat awam sebanyak RM1,800 kerana kajian kita menunjukkan keperluan perbelanjaan seorang individu (yang hidup di bandar) memerlukan sekurang-kurangnya RM2,600 sebulan.
“Sebab itu kita cadangkan kepada kerajaan supaya gaji minimum ini dikaji semula dan ditetapkan pada RM1,800 dan apabila dicampur elaun termasuk Bantuan Sara Hidup (COLA) dan perumahan bolehlah sampai sasaran kepada kajian yang kami buat,” katanya.
Mengulas mengenai pemilihannya sebagai presiden baharu kongres tersebut, Adnan berkata beliau bertekad untuk terus memperjuangkan kebajikan 1.7 juta penjawat awam di negara ini.
Katanya, Cuepacs juga akan memastikan sektor awam terus relevan walaupun negara sedang menuju era Revolusi Perindustrian (IR) 4.0 yang menumpukan kepada produktiviti berteraskan teknologi dan inovasi.
