BANGI, 10 Dis 2019 — Kementerian Pembangunan Usahawan (MED) sedang menyediakan kertas Kabinet berhubung cadangan menambah perkataan ‘koperasi’ pada nama kementerian berkenaan, kata Timbalan Menterinya Datuk Dr Mohd Hatta Md Ramli.
Beliau berkata kertas Kabinet itu antara lain memperincikan tujuan penambahan perkataan tersebut selaras dengan hasrat pihak koperasi yang mahu mengukuhkan peranan dan jenamanya dengan dihubungkan terus kepada nama kementerian yang bertanggungjawab terhadap sektor itu.
“Tuntutan koperasi ini adalah munasabah kerana penambahan perkataan tersebut mampu melonjakkan peranan institusi itu bagi menjadi satu gerakan ekonomi rakyat yang kuat,” katanya pada sidang media selepas merasmikan Seminar Bicara CEO – Kongsi Pengalaman Usahawan Berjaya”, di sini hari ini.
Program perkongsian pengalaman itu yang melibatkan usahawan berjaya dan wakil gerakan koperasi serta kerajaan anjuran Institut Koperasi Malaysia (IKM) dihadiri oleh 945 peserta mewakili 700 koperasi.
Pada 2004, perkataan ‘koperasi’ wujud pada Kementerian Pembangunan Usahawan dan Koperasi sebelum dimansuhkan pada 2009 dan portfolio koperasi diserap oleh Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri, Koperasi dan Kepenggunaan (KPDNKK).
MED ditubuhkan semula pada 2018 tanpa perkataan ‘koperasi’ walaupun sektor tersebut dinaungi di bawah kementerian berkenaan. KPDNKK kini dikenali sebagai Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna (KPDNHEP).
Mohd Hatta menjangkakan nama koperasi akan dapat digunakan kementerian tersebut pada tahun depan.
Sementara itu beliau menggesa gerakan koperasi agar mengubah paradigma daripada menjalankan perniagaan berbentuk pembiayaan kepada bidang perniagaan baharu seperti bidang ternakan dan hartanah seiring dengan perkembangan dan tuntutan ekonomi semasa.
“Cara lama perniagaan koperasi yang menjurus kepada pinjam-meminjam memang kurang risiko tetapi pendapatan juga tidak begitu besar dan sebab itu ALK (ahli lembaga koperasi) perlu menggerakkan koperasi terlibat dalam industri yang lebih besar dan menguntungkan,” katanya.
