JOHOR BAHRU, 28 Nov 2019 — Sektor pertanian bakal menjadi tumpuan dalam mewujudkan peluang pekerjaan baharu di belakang landskap dunia global yang mencabar, yang turut menyaksikan pelbagai perubahan ketara termasuk pengurangan pekerja dalam sektor tertentu.
Menteri Pertanian dan Industri Asas Tani, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub berkata sudah sampai masanya Malaysia membuat naratif dan melakar pendekatan baru.
“Menyaksikan kepantasan Revolusi Industri 4.0 (IR4.0), Malaysia mesti bersedia untuk menyediakan peluang pekerjaan baharu di Malaysia yang akan menyaksikan pertanian akan menjadi tumpuan di mana semua sektor akan menjadi begitu dinamik dan pertanian akan menjadi sumber rezeki baharu,” kata beliau ketika berucap pada majlis perasmian Hari Peladang, Penternak dan Nelayan Kebangsaan (HPPNK) 2019 di Angsana Johor Bahru Mall di sini, hari ini.
Beliau memberi contoh, potensi jelas dapat dilihat apabila Malaysia masih mengimport RM50 bilion bahan makanan.
“Oleh itu, marilah kita bergerak pantas untuk mengisi ruang pengimportan itu dengan memaksimumkan tanah pertanian dan tanah terbiar untuk mengurangkan imbangan perdagangan kita,” kata Salahuddin.
Dengan berbuat demikian, Malaysia boleh menjadi pengeksport buah-buahan ke serata dunia, sekaligus mencukupkan makanan dari segi keselamatan makanan.
“Saya yakin dan percaya HPPNK akan menghimpunkan semua pemain industri, petani kita dan untuk ke sekian kalinya, saya ingin menyatakan dalam majlis yang cukup berprestij ini bahawa kami di MOA menganggap petani kita adalah wira negara,” kata beliau.
Turut hadir merasmikan ialah Timbalan Perdana Menteri Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail diiringi Menteri Besar Johor Datuk Dr Sahruddin Jamal.
Pada majlis perasmian itu, Dr Wan Azizah turut menyampaikan Anugerah Perdana HPPNK 2019 kepada pengusaha Osman Goat Farm, Osman Cheya Kutty, yang turut terpilih sebagai Penternak Jaya peringkat kebangsaan.
Dr Wan Azizah kemudian turut meluangkan masa menyertai Kenduri Rakyat Nasi Ambeng yang disertai kira-kira 4,000 masyarakat selain melawat beberapa tapak pameran di HPPNK
HPPNK 2019, yang bermula hari ini sehingga Ahad, turut menampilkan kira-kira 350 usahawan dan usahanita dari pelbagai bidang pertanian, perikanan dan perladangan serta 13 pavilion negeri yang menampilkan varieti makanan tradisi.
