Timbalan Menteri Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat, Hannah Yeoh, berkata walaupun cadangan itu mendapat bantahan Persekutuan Majikan-Majikan Malaysia (MEF), ada yang berpandangan cuti paterniti tiga hari tidak mencukupi.
“Perbahasan mengenai cuti ini masih berterusan. Jadi, saya menggesa mereka yang memperjuangkan isu ini untuk mengetengahkan pandangan mereka,” katanya, memetik kenyataannya pada sambutan Ulang Tahun ke-10 Kumpulan Sunfert yang dihadiri, kebanyakannya golongan ibu bapa, di sini, hari ini.
Kementerian Sumber Manusia, sebelum ini mengumumkan cadangan untuk memperkenalkan cuti paterniti selama tujuh hari kepada suami yang bekerja di sektor swasta yang akan ditentukan Kabinet menerusi satu perbincangan, nanti.
Dianggap membebankan majikan, Menterinya, M Kulasegaran yang mengakui ada menerima beberapa pandangan termasuk daripada MEF, menjelaskan bahawa cadangan itu bertujuan mewujud dan memelihara kesejahteraan sesebuah keluarga.
Sementara itu, menurut Kata Hannah lagi, “Jadi, jika anda mahu suara anda didengari kerana jika anda mahu menyaksikan perubahan ini untuk keluarga muda, perkara ini perlu dilihat.”
