KUALA LUMPUR, 29 Okt 2019 — Koperasi Peserta-peserta Felcra Malaysia Berhad (KPFB) bakal membina bandar koperasi pertama Malaysia bertempat di Rawang, Selangor dengan nilai pembangunan kasar berjumlah RM2 bilion, kata Pengerusinya Datuk Sabari Misran.
Beliau berkata projek pembangunan bercampur yang merangkumi 4,000 unit rumah pelbagai saiz dan bangunan komersial seperti pejabat dan lot kedai akan dibangunkan di atas tanah berkeluasan 16.8 hektar (42 ekar) milik anak syarikatnya, Mutiara KPFB Sdn Bhd.
Katanya projek yang menggunakan konsep sama seperti bandar koperasi pertama yang terbesar di dunia terletak di Bronx, New York, Amerika Syarikat itu akan memulakan pembinaan pada Februari 2020 dan mengambil masa tiga tahun untuk disiapkan.
“Pembinaan projek ini adalah terbuka kepada anggota koperasi,” katanya selepas majlis menandatangani perjanjian usahasama dengan Palladium Builders Sdn Bhd untuk projek “Coop City” di sini hari ini.
Beliau berkata pembinaan projek itu akan meningkatkan peluang perniagaan dan pekerjaan kepada anggota-anggota koperasi di negara ini.
“Kelebihan yang diberikan bukan sahaja kepada anggotanya, malah ia merupakan satu inisiatif KPFB dalam memberikan peluang kepada koperasi lain yang ingin memiliki kediaman dan lot komersial itu dengan harga mampu milik,” katanya.
Sementara itu, Pengerusi Eksekutif Suruhanjaya Koperasi Malaysia Datuk Nordin Salleh menggalakkan koperasi-koperasi di negara ini untuk mengembangkan aktiviti dan perniagaan kepada sektor lain seperti pembinaan.
Katanya, sudah tiba masa koperasi untuk melakukan perubahan bagi memastikan anggota-anggota koperasi turut sama mendapat kemudahan dan peluang perniagaan yang disediakan.
“Koperasi yang lain harus menjadi KPFB sebagai pemangkin bagi melakukan transformasi ini,” katanya.
