PUTRAJAYA, 19 Okt 2019 — Masyarakat luar bandar digesa agar merebut peluang yang ada untuk menaik taraf ekonomi bagi memastikan mereka tidak ketinggalan jauh berbanding penduduk di bandar malah setanding dengan mereka, kata Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Perdana Menteri berkata, melalui penganjuran Karnival Usahawan Desa (KUD) 2019, para usahawan mempunyai banyak peluang untuk meningkatkan prestasi perusahaan mereka.
“Di KUD ada peluang untuk dapat buat banyak duit melalui pelbagai cara yang ditunjukkan di sini.
“Saya harap semua akan berusaha kerana hasrat kerajaan ialah supaya orang di kampung juga dapat sama (taraf ekonomi) dengan orang di bandar,” katanya kepada media selepas melakukan walkabout di KUD 2019 di sini hari ini.
Sepanjang walkabout tersebut beliau diiringi Menteri Pembangunan Luar Bandar Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun.
Dr Mahathir berkata pelbagai barangan terdapat di KUD termasuk mesin-mesin yang boleh membantu usahawan untuk meningkat jumlah pengeluaran produk mereka.
“Masyarakat luar bandar perlu menaik taraf industri mereka menggunakan mesin, di KUD mesin-mesin yang dijual juga tidak berapa mahal,” katanya.
Sepanjang walkabout selama 90 minit itu, Dr Mahathir turut mengambil peluang meninjau mesin membuat karipap dan kuih kapit keluaran syarikat tempatan.
KUD 2019 diadakan selama lima hari bermula 17 Oktober bertempat di Perkarangan Istana Kehakiman, Presint 3, Putrajaya.
