Menteri Sumber Manusia, M Kulasegaran, berkata pelaksanaan itu bakal meliputi bidang seperti perikanan, penggiat seni, perniagaan milikan tunggal dan perkongsian, termasuk peniaga kecil serta pertanian secara berperingkat.
Beliau, ketika menjawab soalan Wong Hon Wai (PH-DA Bukit Bendera) di Dewan Rakyat, di sini, semalam, juga memaklumkan penggubalan mekanisme akta berkenaan kini di peringkat akhir dan dijangka dapat dilaksanakan tahun depan.
“Objektif utama kerajaan menguatkuasakan Akta Keselamatan Sosial Pekerjaan Sendiri 2017 (Akta 789), bermula 1 Jun 2017 ialah untuk memberi perlindungan keselamatan sosial kepada golongan bekerja sendiri dalam sektor informal.
“Akta ini memberi perlindungan kepada semua pemandu teksi, e-hailing dan pemandu Grab yang bekerja sendiri dan bermula 1 Februari lalu dan skim ini diperluaskan kepada pemandu bas persendirian,” katanya, memetik kenyataannya pada sesi pertanyaan menteri.
Buat masa ini, menurut Kulasegaran, pelaksanaan akta berkenaan membolehkan perlindungan diberi kepada 55,049 pemandu teksi, e-hailing, Grab dan bas persendirian yang mendaftar serta mencarum dengan Perkeso.
Daripada jumlah itu, seramai 184 pemandu teksi menerima faedah di bawah Skim Bencana Kerja Pekerjaan Sendiri melibatkan bayaran sebanyak RM531,1445.
