GEORGE TOWN, 16 Sept 2019 — Kira-kira 2,500 pelari yang lengkap memakai pakaian tradisional menyertai acara larian ‘LLM Maju Cultural Night Run’ yang bermula malam tadi dan berakhir awal pagi ini di Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah dekat sini.
Larian santai sejauh tujuh kilometer yang julung kali diadakan itu dirasmikan oleh Yang Dipertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas, dan turut disertai Ketua Menteri Chow Kon Yeow serta barisan kepimpinan negeri itu.
Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Hal Ehwal Pengguna Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail dan Timbalan Menteri Kerja Raya Mohd Anuar Mohd Tahir turut mengambil bahagian dalam acara itu yang dianjurkan bersama Lembaga Lebuhraya Malaysia (LLM), kerajaan negeri, Jabatan Kedua Sdn Bhd (JKSB) serta Koperasi LLM Berhad.
Mohd Anuar berkata larian ini akan dijadikan acara tahunan berikutan sambutan menggalakkan daripada masyarakat pelbagai kaum dan agama, selain mencapai objektifnya memupuk semangat muhibbah serta toleransi di kalangan penduduk dan menjadi aktiviti pelancongan.
“Acara larian ini dapat memperkenalkan kepelbagaian budaya penduduk Malaysia kepada pelancong asing di samping menggalakkan gaya hidup sihat serta memperkenalkan Jambatan Sultan Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah sebagai laluan ke Pulau Pinang,” katanya ketika ditemui Bernama selepas menyertai larian santai itu.
Mohd Anuar yang mengenakan sepersalinan baju Melayu bersama tanjak bagi acara itu berkata agensi kerajaan dan swasta digalakkan untuk menganjurkan larian santai dengan memakai pakaian tradisional pelbagai kaum dalam usaha memperkenalkan kepelbagaian budaya negara ini.
“Saya lihat ramai peserta malam ini memakai pakaian tradisional masing-masing malah mereka begitu bersemangat berlari bersama-sama sehingga ke garisan penamat,” katanya.
Menurutnya penganjur dengan kerjasama Jabatan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian Negara turut mengadakan beberapa persembahan kebudayaan seperti tarian Boria, Chingay, Bhangra dan tarian tradisional Melayu di pentas utama serta di sepanjang laluan larian berkenaan.
Penganjur menyediakan 35 hadiah penyertaan dan lebih 300 hadiah cabutan bertuah untuk para peserta yang menyertai acara larian ini.
