RAWANG, 3 Sept: Projek landasan kereta api berkembar Lembah Klang Fasa 2 (KVDT 2) bakal menjadi platform pemulihan bagi banduan, selain mengurangkan penggunaan tenaga asing apabila seramai 50 penghuni yang sedang menjalani hukuman penjara akan mula bekerja, seawalnya Oktober ini.
Menteri Pengangkutan, Anthony Loke, berkata pengambilan banduan melalui Program Reintegrasi Penghuni-Industri itu dibuat secara sukarela dengan kontraktor, Dhaya Maju LTAT Sdn Bhd, iaitu hasil usaha sama antara Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) dan Dhaya Maju Infrastructure (Asia) Sdn Bhd yang mengendalikan projek berkenaan.
Ia, menurutnya bagi menaik taraf kemudahan infrastruktur landasan kereta api Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) membabitkan laluan sejauh 265km, dari Salak Selatan ke Seremban dan dari Simpang Pelabuhan Klang berdekatan Mid Valley ke Pelabuhan Klang.
“Pertama, kita boleh mengurangkan kebergantungan kepada pekerja asing. Kedua, dapat memulihkan banduan. Kita mahu apabila banduan ini keluar dari penjara mereka boleh berintegrasi dengan masyarakat.
“Mereka akan dibayar sekurang-kurangnya gaji minimum RM1,100 sebagaimana ditetapkan kerajaan,” katanya, memetik kenyataannya kepada media, selepas merasmikan projek menaik taraf kemudahan infrastruktur KVDT 2, di sini, hari ini.
Anthony, sebelum itu menyaksikan majlis menandatangani memorandum kerjasama Latihan Orang Diselia (ODS) Dalam Bidang Industri Pembinaan Landasan Keretapi KVDT 2 oleh Timbalan Kedua Pengarah Penjara (Pemasyarakatan), Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Razak dan Pengerusi Dhaya Maju LTAT Sdn Bhd, Jeneral Tan Sri Mohd Azumi Mohamed.
Abdul Aziz, dalam satu kenyataannya, memaklumkan banduan dipilih adalah mereka yang sedang menjalani pemulihan dan akan dibebaskan tidak lama lagi, namun mereka tetap terikat pada peraturan ditetapkan penjara dan akan tetap dipantau serta dikawal pegawai penjara.
Banduan yang beroleh kemahiran, katanya akan berpeluang berada terus dalam industri pembinaan ini namun mana-mana antara penghuni yang didapati melanggar peraturan sepanjang bekerja akan dibatalkan kelulusan mereka dan perlu kembali ke penjara.
