PUTRAJAYA, 8 Julai 2019 — Kajian mendapati lebih 60 peratus majikan menawarkan gaji asas RM1,500 bagi lepasan Pendidikan Teknikal dan Latihan Vokasional (TVET), berbanding gaji minimum RM1,050 sebulan yang ditetapkan, kata Timbalan Menteri Sumber Manusia Datuk Mahfuz Omar.
Beliau berkata, gaji minimum RM1,050 itu hanyalah panduan dan ketetapan kerajaan agar pekerja lepasan TVET tidak dibayar pada kadar yang lebih rendah daripada itu.
“Kalau pekerja yang diambil itu pelajar TVET, mereka sudah dilatih dengan kemahiran yang diperlukan industri dan sewajarnya tangga gaji lebih tinggi ditawarkan,” katanya, sambil menambah 94 peratus graduan menceburi bidang TVET berjaya mendapat pekerjaan dalam pelbagai bidang.
Bercakap kepada pemberita selepas merasmikan Persidangan TVET di sini hari ini, Mahfuz berkata adalah diharapkan baki kira-kira 40 peratus majikan dapat menggajikan graduan TVET dengan bayaran yang setimpal dengan kelayakan dan kemahiran yang dimiliki.
Terdahulu, Mahfuz dalam ucapannya mencadangkan supaya Bandar Integrasi TVET diwujudkan bagi memperkasakan lagi sistem pendidikan itu seiring cabaran dan keperluan mendepani revolusi industri 4.0 (IR4.0).
Melalui platform itu, pemegang taruh utama akan terlibat dan bekerjasama dalam penyampaian program serta aktiviti TVET, terutama dari aspek koordinasi dan perkongsian sumber, katanya.
Beliau turut menarik perhatian bahawa bandar integrasi itu akan mengumpulkan institusi dan pusat latihan TVET serta industri baharu yang berkaitan ‘future of work’ di dalam satu wilayah, sekaligus menjadi pusat sehenti kepada kawal selia dan tadbir urus TVET di negara ini.
Menurutnya, bandar integrasi TVET itu akan berperanan sebagai teraju TVET negara sebagaimana fungsi Silicon Valley di Amerika Syarikat serta Shenzen di China.
