SIMPANG PULAI, 1 Julai 2019 — Seorang pekerja kuari maut dipercayai akibat dihempap runtuhan batu kuari di Mukim Sungai Raia di sini pagi tadi.
Ketua Zon 1 Perak, Jabatan Bomba dan Penyelamat Perak Mohd Khairul Jamil berkata pihaknya menerima panggilan mengenai kejadian yang melibatkan lelaki tempatan yang dikenali sebagai Loi Thiam Fatt, 56, pada pukul 9.47 pagi.
“Kami segera mengerahkan seramai tujuh anggota bersama sebuah jentera dari Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat Simpang Pulai bagi kerja-kerja menyelamat,” katanya ketika ditemui pemberita di lokasi kejadian di sini hari ini.
Beliau berkata pihaknya mengambil masa kira-kira 45 minit bagi kerja-kerja mengeluarkan mangsa berikutan kesukaran mengakses lokasi runtuhan yang terletak di kawasan tinggi dan berisiko.
Katanya mayat mangsa dibawa ke Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Ipoh, untuk dibedah siasat.
“Bagaimanapun kerja-kerja di tapak kuari dihentikan buat sementara waktu sehingga pihak berwajib mengesahkan kawasan ini selamat,” katanya.
Sementara itu, Ketua Polis Daerah Ipoh ACP Mohd Ali Tamby berkata pihaknya menerima maklumat mengenai kejadian itu daripada penyelia tapak Kuari Noble Distinction (M) Sdn Bhd pada kira-kira pukul 8.29 pagi.
Beliau berkata siasatan mendapati semasa kejadian, mangsa yang merupakan pemandu jengkaut sedang membersihkan pecahan batu-batu kuari yang diletupkan pada Khamis lepas.
“Ketika mangsa sedang meneruskan kerja-kerja itu, secara tiba-tiba batu besar dari atas bukit terjatuh lalu menghempap jengkaut yang dipandu mangsa sehingga mengalami kecederaan teruk dan disahkan mati di tempat kejadian,” katanya dalam kenyataan di sini hari ini.
Katanya mangsa merupakan bapa kepada dua anak telah bekerja sebagai pemandu jengkaut selama hampir 20 tahun dan berkhidmat dengan syarikat berkenaan kira-kira tiga tahun.
Mohd Ali berkata pemeriksaan lanjut mendapati syarikat itu mempunyai lesen daripada Jabatan Mineral Dan Geosains Perak bagi melakukan kerja letupan serta lesen menggunakan bahan letupan dari Bahagian Perlesenan Ibu PeJabat Polis Kontinjen Perak.
