KUALA LUMPUR, 18 Jun 2019 — Kongres Kesatuan Pekerja Dalam Perkhidmatan Awam (CUEPACS) menyokong cadangan Ketua Polis Negara agar kerajaan menyemak semula gaji kumpulan pegawai berpangkat rendah dan menengah termasuk gaji angkatan tentera dan polis.
Presidennya Datuk Azih Muda berkata semakan ini wajar dilakukan agar penjawat awam khususnya anggota keselamatan dan pihak berkuasa tempatan (PBT) tidak terjebak dengan rasuah.
“Jadi kita harap pendekatan yang dibawa Ketua Polis Negara ini adalah satu pendekatan yang sebenarnya nak melihat, maruah negara kita ini terbela.
“Dengan terbelanya nasib-nasib pekerja ini, gaji mereka lebih baik, lebih tinggi selaras dengan gaji yang dibayar di negara-negara maju….Mungkin melalui kaedah ini amalan rasuah tidak berlaku,” katanya kepada pemberita selepas Majlis Jamuan Hari Raya Aidilfitri 1440 Hijrah Anulae Semenanjung Malaysia di sini, hari ini.
Beliau turut menjelaskan perkara ini selaras dengan hasrat kerajaan untuk melahirkan sebuah perkhidmatan awam yang bersih, cekap dan tidak dibayangi elemen rasuah.
Dalam wawancara khas bersama Bernama baru-baru ini, Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador berkata gaji, logistik dan keperluan anggota polis berpangkat rendah akan diberi keutamaan dalam usaha meningkatkan integriti pasukan itu.
Sementara itu, Azih berkata Cuepacs berharap agar pembinaan rumah mampu milik untuk kakitangan awam termasuk anggota keselamatan menerusi Dasar Perumahan Mampu Milik Negara yang dilancarkan 11 Mei lepas dikekalkan.
“Kalau tidak ada rumah dikhaskan untuk penjawat awam, penjawat awam ini tidak mampu untuk bersaing dengan mereka di luar sana (untuk membeli).
“Dengan harga yang mahal, yang terlibat dengan orang-orang politik dan sebagainya. Akhirnya kita (penjawat awam) tidak mempunyai rumah. Tinggal di kuarters, keluar kuarters tak ada rumah,” katanya.
Perkara ini bakal mengakibatkan penjawat awam terpaksa menyewa rumah seumur hidup sekaligus menjejaskan mutu kerja dan kualiti hidup mereka.
