KUDAT, 19 Okt 2019 \u2013 Perlombongan pasir silika di Pulau Balambangan akan menjadi pemangkin pembangunan dan peluang pekerjaan di daerah ini, kata Ketua Menteri Sabah, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.<\/p>\n
Industri itu akan diteroka oleh Kerajaan negeri melalui Yayasan Sabah (YS) telah menjalin kerjasama dengan sebuah syarikat berpengalaman lebih 50 tahun, dari Sarawak.<\/p>\n
Beliau berkata demikian di sidang media selepas menyaksikan penyerahan Asrama Harian Luar Bandar Sekolah Kebangsaan Balambangan dibiayai Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) kepada Kementerian Pendidikan di Pulau Balambangan dekat sini, hari ini.<\/p>\n
Menurutnya kerajaan mahu menerokai industri silika, bahan untuk membuat kaca disebabkan potensi pasaran cukup banyak bukan hanya di Semenanjung tetapi juga ke China dan Jepun.<\/p>\n
Mohd Shafie berkata pemilihan kawasan perairan Pulau Balambangan untuk industri silika tidak akan memberikan kesan kepada alam sekitar di kawasan perairan itu.<\/p>\n
