SUNGAI SIPUT, 6 Feb 2020 — Sime Darby Plantation Bhd telah menyumbangkan tanah seluas 4.04 hektar bagi pembinaan lebih 100 rumah kos sederhana untuk pekerja syarikat perladangan itu menerusi Skim Khas Pembiyaan Rumah Pekerja Estet (SKRE).
Menteri Sumber Manusia M. Kula Segaran berkata tanah yang diberi secara percuma kepada kementeriannya itu bertujuan memastikan pekerja ladang berpeluang memiliki rumah sendiri.
“Kita menganggarkan lebih 100 buah rumah teres dua tingkat akan dibina dengan harga kurang dari RM150,000 dan pembiayaan tersebut akan diberikan Bank Simpanan Nasional.
“Tempoh pinjaman akan diberikan sehingga 35 tahun dengan faedah dua peratus sahaja. Ini adalah permulaan dan diharap kita dapat lakukan perkara yang sama di estet lain,” katanya selepas Majlis Perjumpaan Dengan Pekerja-Pekerja Ladang Berkenaan SKRE di Ladang Elphil Sime Darby Plantation Bhd di sini hari ini.
Mengulas lanjut, Kula Segaran berkata selain Sungai Siput, pihak Sime Darby Plantation bersetuju menyerahkan tanah seluas 16.18 hektar di Banting, Selangor untuk tujuan sama.
“Buat masa ini, kita akan meminta kerjasama kerajaan negeri mempercepatkan proses ‘sublot’ tanah agar pembinaan ini dapat dimulakan dan kita juga berharap supaya premium tanah diberikan secara percuma,” katanya.
Dalam pada itu, Kula Segaran berkata pada Mac lepas, beliau telah mengadakan pertemuan bersama tujuh syarikat perladangan yang besar di negara ini termasuk FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) dan United Plantations Berhad bagi mendapatkan tanah percuma untuk membina rumah pekerja ladang.
“Buat masa ini, hanya Sime Darby Plantation Bhd menyatakan persetujuan untuk memberikan tanah bagi membina rumah untuk pekerja ladang.
“Saya harap syarikat perladangan lain akan tampil dan memberikan persetujuan kerana bagi saya, ini juga adalah tanggungjawab sosial korporat (CSR),” katanya.
Terdahulu, Kula Segaran dalam ucapannya berkata daripada sejumlah 42,000 pekerja ladang yang terdapat di negara ini, hanya sebilangan kecil memiliki rumah sendiri.
