KANGAR, 18 Nov 2019 — Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) disaran mewujudkan gred jawatan khusus kerajaan untuk pelajar lepasan Pendidikan Teknikal dan Latihan Vokasional (TVET) bagi menetapkan penanda aras tangga gaji permulaan yang layak diterima mereka.
Naib Canselor Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP), Prof Dr R Badlishah Ahmad berpendapat langkah itu perlu supaya graduan TVET tidak dianggap sebagai kelas kedua sekali gus mengatasi masalah penawaran gaji rendah pekerja TVET di sektor industri.
“Selaras dengan komitmen kerajaan dalam memastikan bidang tersebut menjadi tarikan pelajar dan mahu meningkatkan jumlah pekerja mahir kepada 30 peratus pada tahun hadapan, kerajaan diharap dapat membantu graduan TVET ini dengan menyediakan gred gaji yang setaraf seperti graduan kejuruteraan yang diberikan gred J,” katanya dalam satu kenyataan di sini, hari ini.
Selain itu, Badlishah berkata sektor industri dan majikan juga perlu mengiktiraf lepasan TVET dengan memberikan mereka tugas-tugas lebih mencabar dan bersesuaian dengan kemahiran yang dimiliki.
Katanya, ini termasuk memberi kepercayaan dalam melaksanakan reka bentuk kejuruteraan dan pembangunan teknologi sebagaimana yang dilaksanakan oleh negara-negara luar seperti Jerman yang mana sebahagian besar kerja dilaksanakan oleh pekerja TVET.
“Di Jerman, industri dan institusi akademik sering menjalinkan kerjasama erat dalam memastikan kurikulum pengajian sentiasa selari dengan keperluan industri dan ini memastikan graduan yang dilahirkan kekal relevan,” katanya.
