KUALA LUMPUR, 27 Sept: Kongres Kesatuan Sekerja Malaysia (MTUC) menggesa kerajaan supaya keluar daripada pemikiran lama, kononnya kenaikan gaji akan menyebabkan harga barang naik secara automatik.
Setiausaha Agungnya, J Solomon, berkata pandangan sebegitu tidak sepatutnya menghambat kerajaan, terutama dalam merangka Belanjawan 2020 yang dijangka dibentangkan pada Oktober depan.
“Kerajaan lalu atau sekarang selalu mengatakan jika gaji dinaikkan, harga barang akan naik secara automatik.
“Sudah tiba masanya kerajaan keluar daripada pemikiran lama ini. Ini adalah propaganda yang tidak membawa manfaat kepada warga pekerja,” katanya, memetik kenyataannya yang disiarkan Berita Harian, pada program Bicara BH bertajuk Belanjawan 2020: Apa Tuntutan Ekonomi, Apa Kehendak Rakyat, di sini, kelmarin.
Pada program yang disiarkan secara langsung melalui FB Berita Harian Online itu, Solomon juga berpandangan supaya Garis Pendapatan Kemiskinan (ILP) turut diambil kira sebagai faktor utama dalam menentukan semula kadar gaji minimum di negara ini.
Sambil merujuk pendedahan Pelapor Khas Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB), Phillip Alston, baru ini, mengenai kadar kemiskinan negara ketika ini yang tidak tepat yang mana telah mempengaruhi penetapatan kadar gaji minimum, beliau berkata: “Ini bermakna, sejak sekian lama golongan pekerja ditipu.
“Kami harap dalam Belanjawan 2020, kerajaan akan memperbetulkan perkara ini.”
