KUALA LUMPUR, 15 Ogos: Kompaun ke atas pemandu teksi, bas dan e-hailing yang masih belum berdaftar serta mencarum dengan Skim Keselamatan Sosial Pekerjaan Sendiri (SKSPS) adalah demi kebajikan golongan itu.
Ketua Eksekutif Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO), Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed, berkata tindakan mengkompaun pemandu terbabit yang bermula kelmarin sebenarnya tidak berniat untuk menyusahkan mereka.
Sebaliknya, beliau berkata pelaksanaan kompaun itu selaras penguatkuasaan Ops Patuh yang dilancarkan pada 1 Ogos lalu, bertujuan menggalakkan golongan berkenaan meraih manfaat menerusi pendaftaran dan caruman dengan SKSPS, bukan saja untuk diri mereka malah keluarga.
“Kita sudah beri masa yang lama kepada pemandu teksi, bas dan e-hailing kerana skim ini sudah diperkenalkan sejak dua tahun lalu,” katanya, memetik kenyataannya kepada media di ibu pejabat PERKESO di sini, kelmarin.
“Semalam, seorang pemandu teksi mengalami kemalangan dan maut, nasib baik beliau berdaftar dengan skim ini pada 1 Ogos lalu dan isteri serta anak beliau kini layak mendapat pencen bulanan dan faedah lain di bawah skim ini.”
PERKESO, menurut Dr Mohammed Azman, terkilan kerana kadar kesedaran yang masih rendah di kalangan pemandu teksi, bas dan e-hailing yang sehingga kini hanya mencatat 50,801 orang yang mendaftar dan mencarum dengan SKSPS.
“Jumlah yang mendaftar itu masih rendah jika dibandingkan dengan jumlah keseluruhan 316,000 pemandu direkodkan mendaftar dengan Agensi Pengangkutan Awam Darat (APAD),” katanya, sambil mengakui PERKESO terpaksa bertindak tegas termasuk membuat pendakwaan di mahkamah.
Sehubungan itu, beliau menyeru pemandu yang masih belum mendaftar supaya tidak takut untuk berbuat demikian, sekarang bagi mengelak dihadapkan ke mahkamah yang membolehkan mereka dipenjara dua tahun atau didenda sehingga RM10,000 atau kedua-duanya sekali, jika sabit kesalahan.
